Finite Element Analysis

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) can be used with traditional tests to analyze the strength of the structures and complex systems, determine the behavior of components, and accurately predict how products will react to low structural and thermal loads. FEA is a computer simulation based on the finite element method.

Vista Engineering’s finite element analysis can assist product development, simulations of load conditions, design optimization, predicting lifetime use, fitness for duty, and failure analysis. Using sophisticated modeling software to predict the behavior of the product, we will help you save time and material required for traditional tests and increase the confidence in the performance test.

Finite Element Analysis

The finite element method (FEM) is the preferred method for solving engineering problems and mathematical models. It originated from the need to solve complex linear and nonlinear structural analysis problems in aeronautical, mechanical, and civil engineering.

FEA investigates changes in the design for weight, cost, manufacturing, performance, or bench marking reasons, and can provide confidence in the designs before undertaking costly regimes and potentially destructive tests. It is beneficial for any project that requires dynamics analysis, strength, or durability. Using sophisticated modeling software, FEA simulates interaction and movement between the parts in a system given a specific set of parameters.

Industrial Services

Specialization

For components that are too large or complex for a traditional test, FEA provides a viable method for determining the dynamics of the system and the characteristics of the product. Our experts work with you to define the boundary conditions and loads to accurately reflect the service environment of the products. After running a finite element analysis, we can provide reliable data on ideal working conditions, failure scenarios, durability, load limits, creep and fatigue.

The analysis types available are:

  • Linear Static
  • Linear Buckling
  • Natural Frequency
  • Harmonic Response
  • Spectral Response

Evidence Testing

Vista Engineering can provide physical evidence when advanced testing is required. Our laboratory is equipped to perform testing of pressure vessels, windows and doors, aerospace components, structures, and many other types of products.

Product Testing

Our experts regularly solve product failure issues through the investigation of CAD, in-service data, and material data coupled. Our FEA teams are also physical testing experts and can suggest solutions to client test failures, and validate simulation with physical testing.
